CORRINE DRIVE REDESIGN

What’s Happening with Corrine Drive? (Finally!)

If you’ve ever driven Corrine Drive and thought, “this road could use some love,” you’re not alone and help is (finally) on the way.

Following years of study by MetroPlan Orlando with a focus on Complete Streets principles, the City of Orlando is now laying out a thoughtful, people-first plan to transform Corrine Drive — and its surrounding corridor, including Forest Avenue and Virginia Drive — into a safer, greener, and more inviting place for everyone, whether you're walking, biking, pushing a stroller, or just driving to your favorite neighborhood spot.

What’s being proposed

  • Raised Intersection

This new intersection will bring the entire crossing up to sidewalk level. What’s the benefit? It naturally slows traffic and makes pedestrians easier to see — helping students, parents, and pedestrians cross safely all the time, without relying on flashing lights or crossing guards. Bonus: it’s near the K-8 school.

  • Raised Crosswalks

You know the raised crossing in front of East End Market? Imagine another one just like it — this time near Christy Avenue. These crossings come with a pedestrian-activated signal and will help folks on foot or bike safely cross in the district’s busiest zones.

  • Tree Bump Outs

Also known as curb extensions, these add a bit of extra sidewalk at intersections and key points along Corrine. They help narrow the road visually, slow traffic, and will add 190 new street trees. That means more shade for walkers and cyclists, while also reducing heat in the summer.
